The History of Villa Pianoia

Immersed in the suggestive Tuscan landscape, Villa Pianoia was built on an ancient farmhouse on the vast estates of the famous Medici poet Angelo Ambrogini, known by the name of Angelo Poliziano.

The villa, over the years, has undergone various transformations and extensions until its final completion in the 19th century. During the Second World War it was initially the temporary home of Benito Mussolini, later a refuge for partisans and then a target for German bombs.

In the late 1970s, Commendatore Arcangelo Iapicca, a building contractor from southern Italy, purchased the estate, then little more than a ruin. Consolidation and restoration were his work. He made Villa Pianoia a magical place where he used to spend his free time with his family and the many friends who surrounded him.

After his death, the entire property was inherited by his nephew, also Arcangelo Iapicca. Arcangelo jr‘s dream has always been to make Villa Pianoia shine as it once did, in memory of his grandfather to whom he was so attached.

After a long renovation today Villa Pianoia is open to the world, ready to welcome with the love and passion that have always characterized it.
